I had mentioned that I was making a gum chair for my sculpture final. I figured I'd post some pictures of it for your viewing enjoyment. I had a big idea: Provide free gum to the art students, the only stipulation being that they chew it, and deposit the chewed gum and empty wrapper in the provided recepticles. I conducted this whole collection, and actually got a lot of gum. I spent hours and hours folding gum wrapper chains for the seat of the chair. Everything took me so long, I didn't have much time to assemble the final product. The result was dissappointing. For all the work and ideas and everything, the end product was just not impressive. Maybe if I had just wrapped the whole chair in gum. Or maybe this was not the project for me. My other work has tended to have a more graphic, big, spontaneous, looser feel to it. This wasn't big enough for the time input. I guess I'm happy with the gum wrapped part.
